A Sweet Treat to Warm Your Fall!
That's exactly what our delicious recipe for a red fruit flaky pastry is. Besides being beautiful, every bite is a mix of textures and flavors. It takes only 40 minutes to prepare and serves 6.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Juice of 1/2 lemon
- 1 ready-made puff pastry sheet
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 5 tablespoons demerara or granulated sugar
Instructions:
- In a medium saucepan, combine the red fruits and sugar and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Add lemon juice and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Set aside.
- In a skillet that can go in the oven, heat 2 tablespoons of butter, spread the butter over the entire skillet, and turn off the heat.
- Add 2 tablespoons of demerara sugar and spread it over the bottom of the skillet.
- Cut the puff pastry in half to form two squares.
- Place one square at the bottom of the skillet and the other on top diagonally so that the pastry has 8 points.
- Press the pastry into the bottom of the skillet and add the red fruit jam.
- Close the pastry in a rustic manner, leaving the center open.
- Brush the remaining butter over the pastry and sprinkle with the remaining demerara sugar.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 410°F (210°C) for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
Tip: Serve warm. If desired, serve with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of firm yogurt.
