A Sweet Treat to Warm Your Fall!

A Sweet Treat to Warm Your Fall!

That's exactly what our delicious recipe for a red fruit flaky pastry is. Besides being beautiful, every bite is a mix of textures and flavors. It takes only 40 minutes to prepare and serves 6.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 ready-made puff pastry sheet
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 5 tablespoons demerara or granulated sugar

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the red fruits and sugar and cook over low heat for 30 minutes. Add lemon juice and cook for an additional 5 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a skillet that can go in the oven, heat 2 tablespoons of butter, spread the butter over the entire skillet, and turn off the heat.
  3. Add 2 tablespoons of demerara sugar and spread it over the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Cut the puff pastry in half to form two squares.
  5. Place one square at the bottom of the skillet and the other on top diagonally so that the pastry has 8 points.
  6. Press the pastry into the bottom of the skillet and add the red fruit jam.
  7. Close the pastry in a rustic manner, leaving the center open.
  8. Brush the remaining butter over the pastry and sprinkle with the remaining demerara sugar.
  9. Bake in a preheated oven at 410°F (210°C) for 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.

Tip: Serve warm. If desired, serve with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of firm yogurt.
