Pure Ceramics or Ceramic Coating? Real differences.

Pure Ceramics or Ceramic Coating? Real differences.

When it comes to choosing safe cookware for your kitchen, the debate between materials is often a significant source of doubts.
With a surge in the search for healthy option, ceramics (as tradional as it is!) is often among the most mentioned.
Still, once the material is chosen, the difference between pure ceramics and ceramic coating can be quite confusing.

Let's dive into the real differences between the two and how it impacts your choice of cookware.

What is Pure Ceramics?

Pure ceramics cookware is made from natural clay that is kiln-fired at high temperatures. It is non-reactive, meaning it won't leach any harmful chemicals into your food. Likewise, because it is fired at high temperature and thus non-porous, it won't absorb any of the oils or food, keeping the flavors fresh and true to the ingredients.
Pure ceramics are known for their excellent heat retention and distribution, making them ideal for slow cooking and simmering dishes.

What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating, on the other hand, is a non-stick coating applied to the surface of metal cookware. It is often made from silica, which is derived from sand.
While ceramic coating provides a non-stick surface for easy cooking and cleaning, it may contain chemicals like PTFE and PFOA, which can be harmful if overheated.

Key Differences

The main difference between pure ceramics and ceramic coating lies in their composition. Pure ceramics are made entirely of natural materials, while ceramic coating is a layer applied to metal cookware.
Pure ceramics are also more durable and scratch-resistant compared to ceramic coating, which can wear off over time.
Another key aspect is temperature resistance. Depending on the ceramic coating, there might be little resistance to over or repeated exposure to high heat, whreas pure ceramic is suited to it.

Impact on Your Choice

When choosing between pure ceramics and ceramic coating, consider your cooking habits and priorities. If you prioritize safety and durability, pure ceramics may be the better option for you. However, if you prefer the convenience of non-stick cookware, ceramic coating can be a suitable choice as long as you choose carefully, handle it with care and avoid overheating.

Ultimately, the choice between pure ceramics and ceramic coating comes down to personal preference and cooking needs. Both options have their own set of benefits and considerations, so it's important to weigh them carefully before making a decision for your kitchen.

Ceraflame stands proudly - since 1998 -  as an advocate of our pure ceramics for its guaranteed non-contamination of food, for the durability of ceramics and for absolutely no presence of metals in its composition.

Our pieces will look the same for years to come: no coating means no scratched, peeling look (or taste!). The glaze that is fired alongside the ceramic piece is instrinsic to it.

What makes our pure ceramics truly unique is its thermal schock resistance: flame to marble - no cracks. This allows for a blend of health and day-to-day versatility - achieved after over 25 years of proprietary research, and genuine passion for what we do.
